Can Masks Protect us from COVID-19?

Coronavirus cases have been raised to large numbers around the world since its outbreak in china. In recent days, the virus has spread to more than 100 countries but the rate of deaths and the severity of the disease has been found in China, Iran, and Italy. People are therefore wondering, how to stop the fast-spreading of this virus and protect ourselves and thus the use of masks has been increasing as the virus is linked to respiratory illnesses like SARS.

Can Masks Protect Us:

The question arises that does mask is enough to protect ourselves from coronavirus and up to which limit masks can protect us? Well, the answer is pretty straight forward as the size of coronavirus is ranging from 60-140 nm which is 0.06-0.14microns whereas the average pore size range of a blue surgical mask is 16-51 microns, thus it can easily capture virus particles. But the issue is the disposal, touching the masks on the outer side and not wearing it properly. Whatever type of mask you are wearing, the odds will be against you if you touch the mask again or not wearing it fit on your face, allowing entry of air from sides.
Another main point is these masks should be disposed of properly. Moreover, during the disposing or taking off the mask, the filters should not be touched to avoid any danger. In short, just not consider yourself fully protected by wearing a mask, and be active any time you go out or meet someone and also strictly follow the standard precautions released by WHO or Health Authorities of your country, and also most importantly take it for the sake of yours and others health.
