COVID-19 has spread nearly to all countries across the globe and the cases are increasing day by day. The treatment strategies are being reported daily and scientists across the globe are continuously aiming to find a quick cure and ultimate stopper medicine for the virus. Meanwhile, different strategies are applied for protective treatments which include, supportive medications, immune booster treatment, and prevention strategies including isolation and quarantine.
To improve the effects of the present strategies, to prevent and cure COVID-19, we have noticed an important missing factor, that can aid recoveries in Pakistan. This neglected factor is the Psychological Treatment and support to patients. Looking into the education+knowledge level of our people, it is indeed a factor that should be applied to all treatments other than the present pandemic as well. But for the present scenario of COVID-19, the situation has evolved much as to the response of our health staff including doctors and paramedics to COVID-19 patients. The response is obvious as we all have seen in videos of interviews of patients when they are inquired about the conditions. Nearly all of such videos show the patients with a confused face as if they are uncertain about what is going to happen to them. This uncertainty arise due to patients' confusion about what they are facing? The situation clarifies that the behavior of our doctors and paramedics is different towards COVID patients in comparison to others.
This also affects recovery power as in this case of a novel disease the recovery is totally from inside of the body and is immunity dependent. Thus, to discuss certain aspects of this differential behavior towards COVID-19 patients, that can reduce immunity uplift, we made a quick discussion with a Psychologist Mr. Muhammad Nauman Adil. He clarified some important points regarding the impacts of the psychology of patients on treatments like in the case of the present pandemic. When inquired about the discriminative behavior towards COVID-19 on basis of its infectivity and no up to the mark treatments, Mr. Nauman said:
Thus, to support treatment and to support immunity, in my view we need
psychologically strong patients to get strong nervous responses to
indirectly boost the immune power of the body. And for this we need
doctors to interact normally with COVID-19 patients and educate them
about their confusion. Also, most importantly our government needs to
support our doctors and paramedical staff by providing them all
protective facilities to boost their confidence as well.To improve the effects of the present strategies, to prevent and cure COVID-19, we have noticed an important missing factor, that can aid recoveries in Pakistan. Patient education about the disease is critical as it impacts psychological factors inside the body as it aids immune responses towards a disease. He added that our brain and nervous system is the key responder to any situation through neurotransmitters and thus different psychological levels from low to strong, clearly affect the speed and strength of immune responses. It also affects the support of the nervous system towards supportive drugs that are being used in the case to support immunity. He further added that this is the responsibility of all of us including the government, doctors, paramedical staff and social workers to spread awareness regarding COVID-19 among all who are confused and get them motivated to fight the pandemic. When you make them feel strong mentally, they'll never think of being infected with the fatal disease and will never think of defeat and ultimately will recover.
